Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God...

I can't believe it's already October! Time sure does go by when you're busy! It's interesting to think but time goes by whether we are busy or not...it's what we do with that time that counts! Between being a wife, mother, business owner, now part-time student, Sunday School teacher and whatever else comes along, it's so hard to make time to be still. This is kind of a piggy-back from my last post but I wanted to share about the last few weekends that I took to try to 'time out' and refocus.
I went to Chicago for a quick one-day conference for my business a couple of weeks ago. I love the people I get to travel with and just do life with! We are all moms working our own businesses along with the other things in life that take up much of our time. I always like the quote "When you say you don't have time for something, you are simply stating a priority, not a fact." Isn't that convicting?! Do I have time to run a home business along with my other responsibilities? Nope, not really...but it beats the alternative of giving someone else 40+ hours of my time. Ok, I'm digressing...So my point is that we make time for what's important. I think we can all agree that's true! So I took a couple of days to unplug from daily life and fill my head with knowledge for my business. It also helps to put things into perspective when you are removed from the daily grind.
So last weekend I went to a Ladies Retreat with some fellow Christian friends. Just an overnight event that I honestly couldn't justify going to...I had just been gone the weekend before, my husband had to take part of the day off to watch the kids, etc. It would have been easy to skip this. Am I ever glad that I went! Again, I was able to unplug from the daily grind, get out of my normal environment and take time to reflect. I was able to spend many sweet moments with Jesus and with other women of like-faith. It was at this retreat that I felt the true value of the scripture in Psalm 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. With the hustle and bustle of our crazy lives (smartphones, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and whatever the heck else is out there!) it is so important now more than ever to take time out with the Savior!
Make yourself a promise to take a few moments each day to "be still" and just reflect. Thank God for your blessings, take your requests to Him in prayer, and just let your mind be blank for a moment. I hope I can be an encouragement to you all with each post! I would love to hear about your ways to be still in the comments below!
Love you all! D
